Part-Time / Contract

Part-time Visual Media Specialist (Videographer/Editor)
Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy (IMRP) UConn School of Public Policy – Hartford Campus

Up to 20 hrs. per month
Remote with on-site assignments through June 2026
Compensation: hourly wage ($25-$35/hr.) commensurate with experience

Job Summary:

The Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy (IMRP) at UConn School of Public Policy (SPP) is seeking a part-time Visual Media Specialist to support communications, marketing, and outreach efforts through engaging visual content.

Summary of Duties and Deliverables:

  • Capture video and photography at IMRP events as directed, for use on web and social media platforms
  • Script, edit, and produce short-form videos based on existing and new content to promote IMRP initiatives
  • Attend on-site and off-site events as requested and contribute to storytelling ideas with pre-production support, field work, and post-production needs
  • Shoot and deliver special projects with key IMRP partners as These may include interviews, vignettes, or short-form documentary work
  • Deliver final media content optimized for multiple platforms and audiences
  • Support specific School of Public Policy events and content deliverables on occasion

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in film, Media, Communications, Film and Video or a related field
  • Ownership of or access to camera, lighting, and sound equipment
  • Experience using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, or comparable editing and visual platforms
  • Knowledge of camera and editing equipment to produce high-end content suitable for distribution
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to follow directions regarding tone and content of requested deliverables
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, SharePoint)

Student Employment and Internships

Each year, the IMRP hires undergraduate and graduate students for roles in research, data collection, legislative, policy, and administrative support. Our internship program offers students a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in public policy research and development.

Applications for Spring semester (January to May) and Fall semester (September to December) are accepted on a rolling basis. Applications for Summer (May to August) are accepted between February 1 and May 30. Applications are considered as they are received, so students are advised to apply early for any or all programs.
