Ayla  Fidel

Ayla Fidel has been interning with the IMRP since June 2023 as a Research Assistant under the International Justice Exchange Project. A senior at Wesleyan University studying American Studies and History with a concentration in media and human rights, Ayla is passionate about criminal justice reform and the intersection between policy and change making.

Outside of academics, Ayla is involved with the Center for Prison Education, Cardinal Kids, Collective Motion Dance, and the American Studies Major Committee. This past summer she interned with the Osborne Association in NYC at a transitional housing center for elderly formerly incarcerated people. Ayla is driven to challenge the narrative about incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people through education and community outreach initiatives. After college she plans to pursue a dual degree in Public Policy and Social Work.

In her free time, she loves to do yoga, go hiking, and play with her dog.
