Kaya Tray

Kaya Tray is a double major in sociology and education studies at Amherst College in the class of 2028. Her studies invoke a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods to dissect systemic injustice and inequalities across the United States. At Amherst, she is researching inequalities in access to and belonging within elite institutions of higher education.

Kaya’s liberal arts background allows her to think about problems in multidimensional terms, understanding the history, policy, culture, and economics that are at play beyond statistical analysis. She plans to pursue a career in social justice through public policy and or law. She is grateful to be working with such a motivated group of researchers, sharing the goal of making positive change in Connecticut’s criminal justice system
