Tommy Dowd

Program Assistant, Connecticut Sentencing Commission

Tommy Dowd is a two-time graduate of the University of Connecticut, earning his bachelor’s in political science and economics in 2022 and his master’s in public policy the following year.

His first experience with the Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy (IMRP) came in his final semester of graduate school, taking a class that explored the origins and impacts of the Connecticut Sentencing Commission and the Connecticut Racial Profiling Prevention Project. He was delighted to be asked to continue this work after graduation and has been working with the organization ever since. In his current capacity as an educational program assistant, he conducts research and performs executive tasks for the Sentencing Commission.

Tommy is active in the political arena and is a passionate advocate for equality. In 2020, he served as the sole campaign staffer for current state representative Amy Morrin Bello.

Tommy enjoys singing, having performed in an a cappella group in college, and is an avid fan of the Patriots, Red Sox, and, of course, UConn basketball.
